NOBLE, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say dozens of homes and other structures have been destroyed as wildfires rage in Oklahoma.
Hundreds of homes were evacuated Friday in at least four counties, and part of Interstate 44 and two state highways were closed for a few hours because of the smoke and flames.
Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel says at least 25 homes and a daycare center burned in a fire that may have been deliberately set near Luther, a town about 20 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.
Deputies are investigating reports that newspapers set on fire were thrown from a pickup truck.
About 40 miles south near Norman, a fire has burned at least 25 structures, and another 40 structures were destroyed by a blaze near Tulsa.
