Tulsa, OK –
The Tulsa Public Schools Renewable Energy Celebration was this afternoon. School Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard and Mayor Kathy Taylor cut the ribbon heralding the installation and operation of Tulsa's first wind turbine. The turbine has been installed by Global NES-Oklahoma, sponsor of the recent TPS Essay Contest on Sustainable Energy to create awareness about renewable energy sources.

First place essay contest winner Adriana Rodriguez helped to cut the ribbon. The celebration, a science fair with exhibits about renewable energy, took place at the HelmZar Challenge Course near Jasper and North Peoria, at the site of the old Lowell Elementary School.
