Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of our show, we speak with Scott Perkins, a curator at the Price Tower Arts Center in Bartlesville. Perkins tells us about an interesting new exhibit opening tomorrow (Friday the 1st) at the Price Tower called "William Schickel: Spirit Made Manifest." This show traces the prolific and richly varied career of Schickel (1919-2009), an artist who seems to have been equally inspired by mid-20th-century modernism (in all its forms) as well as his own (quite profound) religious faith. As Perkins explains, Schickel created outstanding work in the areas of painting, drawing, printmaking, stained glass, furniture design, and sculpture --- and he's probably best known for his architectural work in conjunction with both sacred and secular spaces. A retrospective that documents each facet of Schickel's long and inspired career, this exhibit runs through January 9th of next year; for more information, please visit pricetower.org/exhibitions.
