Will Rogers Turnpike Reopens

By AP

Miami, OK – I-44 from Tulsa to Mo. now open in both directions

MIAMI, Okla. (AP) Authorities say westbound Interstate 44 from the Missouri state line to Tulsa has reopened.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority spokesman Jack Damrill confirmed late Wednesday that one lane of the highway had been cleared for traffic.

Crews have been working to clear the interstate of vehicles disabled by mounds of snow left by a blizzard on Tuesday. The massive winter storm dumped 20 inches of wintry precipitation on parts of the state, hitting northeast Oklahoma particularly hard.

Earlier Wednesday, crews reopened one eastbound lane on that stretch of I-44, also known as the Will Rogers Turnpike.
