Bartlesville, OK – Grass fires about consume 250 acres in NE Oklahoma
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) Crews have brought several grass fires in northeast Oklahoma under control.
Washington County Emergency Management Director Kary Cox said Tuesday fires in Bartlesville and near Oklahoma Highway 123 in Osage County were reported around 10:30 a.m. Monday. Cox says crews also were called out to fires in the Copan and Wann areas.
Firefighters had to battle the flames in canyons and other rough terrain to contain the blazes late in the day. About 250 acres burned.
Cox told the Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise the fire began with oilfield construction equipment.
A woman who was knocked unconscious during the fire was taken to a hospital, but Cox didn't have an update on her condition Tuesday. Her name wasn't released.
Cox says two small fires were reported on Tuesday.
