Web Worms Hit Green Country Early and Hard

KWGS News

A web attack is underway and it is not in cyberspace.

Fall Web Worms are invading Oklahoma trees early this year. Tulsa arborist Don Massey says the worms have their favorite trees. He says they love pecan and hickory trees. He says he's even seen infestations in oak trees this year, which is rare. Massey says worms, which peak in September, also like ornamental trees, like Red Bud and Crab Apple.

The worms will rarely kill a tree, but can make it very unattractive. Massey says if you have a few, just cut them out. If you have a lot, you may want to get your trees sprayed.
