Water Service Restored to Hominy Prison

Oklahoma Department of Corrections

Water has been restored at an Oklahoma prison that had to bring in bottled water for inmates to use after a line break nearly a week ago.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections says water was fully restored late Friday at the Dick Conner Correctional Center in Hominy.

A pipe at the prison broke on June 25, leading the agency to import water for about 1,200 inmates to drink and giving them buckets of water to fill their toilets.

The agency also called in the Oklahoma National Guard and several emergency management agencies after the waterline break.

The corrections department says levels were being pressurized and maintained in the prison's 500,000-gallon water tower on Saturday.
