Oklahoma City, OK – Another Oklahoma soldier dies in Afghanistan

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Another Oklahoma soldier serving in Afghanistan has died.

The Department of Defense announced Monday that 2nd Lt. Joe L. Cunningham died Saturday of injuries he suffered in a non-combat related incident in Laghman province. Defense officials didn't specify what kind of incident occurred.

The 27-year-old Cunningham, of Kingston, was assigned to the Stillwater-based 1st Battalion, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

A telephone listing for Joe L. Cunningham in Kingston was disconnected.

Cunningham is the fourth Oklahoman to die in Afghanistan this month and the sixth in recent weeks.

Spc. Jordan Morris of Stillwater was killed Thursday when a bomb detonated near his vehicle in Kandahar province. Two other soldiers died earlier this month and two died on July 29.
