Violinist Ani Kavafian Joins Pianist Anna Polonsky On Performance Oklahoma

In the 9th edition of the broadcast series celebrating chamber music performances from the 2012 OK Mozart International Festival, violinist AniKavafian joins pianist Anna Polonsky to offer Robert Schumann’s Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano, a work written late in the composer’s life.   We’ll also hear a performance of three songs scored for voice, viola and piano by three 19th century French masters of melody presented by mezzo soprano Sasha Cooke, violist Paul Neubauer and pianist Anna Polonsky.  And Anna joins Orion Weiss to play the colorful and virtuosicRapsodieEspagnole for piano 4-hands by Maurice Ravel.   

Special guest host Bill McGlaughlin takes part in the 10th edition of the 2012 OKM broadcast series which offers several performances from the gala concert entitled  Vienna, City of My Dreams.  We’ll hear the Annen-Polka of Johann Strauss Sr,  and songs by  Rudolf Sieczynski, Gustav Pick and Franz Lehar  featuring baritone Kelly Markgraf, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, violinists Ani Kavafian and David Southorn, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist Peter Wiley and pianist Orion Weiss.  And Ani, Peter and Orion  return to play the Piano Trio No. 2 in c minor by Felix Mendelssohn, his last great chamber piece and the final chamber music performance of the 2012 Festival week.
