US Senate Panel to Consider Oklahomans for Judge Posts

File photo

Two nominees for federal judgeships in Oklahoma City are scheduled to be considered this week by the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington.

Current U.S. Magistrate Judge Suzanne Mitchell and an assistant general counsel at the University of Oklahoma, Scott Palk, are scheduled to testify before the committee on Wednesday.

President Barack Obama nominated the two in December to serve as judges on the state's U.S. District Court for the Western District in Oklahoma City.

Mitchell has served as a magistrate judge since 2013 and previously served as a federal prosecutor and as a senior clerk for a judge on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Palk has served as assistant dean for students and assistant general counsel at OU's College of Law since 2011.
