Tulsa, OK – Trucker's cruise control set below limit

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Investigators say the truck driver involved in a collision that left 10 dead on the Will Rogers Turnpike had his cruise control set below the 75 mile-per-hour speed limit.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Scott Horton says investigators are seeking the medical and cell phone records of truck driver Donald Creed, 76, of Willard, Mo., to determine if he was distracted.

Creed's truck slammed into six cars that were stopped because of an earlier crash on the eastbound lanes of the turnpike on June 26.

Horton said there were no skid marks from the truck, but officials are checking the vehicle's computer to see if he attempted to touch his brakes. Creed's cruise control was set at 71 miles-per-hour.
