Tulsa, OK – Man accused of killing to stand trial

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A man who is suspected of killing a businessman last year must stand trial on a first-degree murder count.

Tulsa County Special Judge David Youll ordered 23-year-old Terrico Bethel to stand trial at the conclusion of Monday's preliminary hearing.

Prosecutors charged Bethel in the death of Neal Sweeney, who was shot in the head Sept. 4, 2008, at his business, Retail Fuels Marketing. Sweeney, a University of Tulsa football standout in the 1960s, died the next day.

Police say an investigation revealed that Sweeney's killing was the result of a dispute with someone with whom he was doing business.

Detectives alleged that during an April 29 interview, Bethel admitted to the crime and revealed details of the killing.
