KWGS News File Photo

Unit Corporation today announced it will contribute $3 million as a partner in the construction of A Gathering Place for Tulsa. Ninety acres of waterfront along Riverside Drive will be transformed into broad and active civic commons. Phase I, totaling 66.5 acres, will be completed for Tulsans to enjoy by late 2017.

Unit Corporation will hold the naming rights to the Picnic Grove embedded within the Chapman Foundation Adventure Playground. The Picnic Grove will be a place for families and children, including school groups. It will be a perfect evening and weekend setting for families to gather, enjoy a picnic and allow children to be active in the nearby multi-level playground. The Unit Corporation Picnic Grove will be located on the southeast side of the Chapman Foundation Adventure Playground.

“Not only will this park significantly enhance the existing River Parks; it will be an asset that improves Tulsa’s social, economic and environmental sustainability,” said Larry Pinkston, Unit Corporation president and chief executive officer. “Unit Corporation is very excited to partner in this project and see A Gathering Place for Tulsa vitalize the community we call home to our headquarters. We see the project as an extension of our company culture in promoting active outdoor activities for our current and future employees and their families.”

Through its subsidiaries, Unit Corporation is engaged in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas, acquisitions of oil and natural gas properties, contract drilling of onshore oil and natural gas wells and gathering and processing natural gas.
