Tulsa, OK – SE Okla. counties top unemployment rate

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Southeast Oklahoma once again has the highest rates of unemployment in the state, but for the first time since December 2008, the jobless rate of all Oklahoma counties dipped below 10 percent last month.

According to statistics released Wednesday by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, Hughes, Latimer and McCurtain counties shared the state's highest jobless rate at 9.9 percent.

All three counties were above 10 percent in March.

Oklahoma's statewide unemployment rate in April held steady at 6.6 percent, still well behind the national rate of 9.9 percent.

Three Northwest Oklahoma counties had the lowest unemployment rates Beaver (3.2 percent), Harper (3.6 percent) and Dewey (3.7 percent).

April's rate was 6.1 percent in Oklahoma County and 6.8 percent in Tulsa County.
