Tulsa's Budget Debate

By John Durkee

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa City Councilors have their pencils all sharpened. They are making the last edits to the new City of Tulsa budget.

Mayor Kathy Taylor trimmed over $10-million from her original budget as city sales tax revenue continues to decline. However, some council members worry that the cuts may be too deep. At yesterday's budget meeting there was much discussion on adding dollars back into the budget.

Areas where council members expressed concern was right-of-way mowing, graffiti abatement , public works and neighborhood code violations.

The council is expected to make final approval of the budget on Thursday evening. The new budget goes into effect on July 1st.
