Tulsa's American Theatre Company Presents "Souvenir"

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, we speak with Lindsey McKee, who's starring in "Souvenir," a play that tells the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York City socialite of the first half of the 20th century who was so wealthy --- and so deluded --- that she performed at Carnegie Hall even though she couldn't sing in the slightest. A famously awful singer who was nevertheless deeply committed to music, culture, and the arts, Jenkins was also in possession (despite her utter lack of talent) of a vast amount of ambition and drive. Hers is an interesting story, without question, and McKee shares it with us. The American Theatre Company's production of "Souvenir" will be staged on February 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, and 19th at the Tulsa Ballet performance space known as Studio K (near 45th and Peoria) in Tulsa. (For ticket information, please visit myticketoffice.com.) Also on today's program, our commentator Barry Friedman talks about how he recently re-did his father's will. Friedman's father is now 84 years old --- and he lives in Nevada, where, as Friedman explains, it's pretty easy to prepare a will without a lawyer..."or, for that matter, knowledge."
