Tulsa's 67th Homicide of 2017: Man Shot Defending Family During Home Invasion

A man was shot and killed in front of his family Sunday afternoon as he confronted an armed robber during a home invasion.

Tulsa Police say the home in the 9000 block of East 67th Street was 16-year-old Deonte Green's second stop during a Sunday crime spree.

Police say Green approached the man's wife and two daughters as they left the house around 12:30 p.m., pointing a gun at them and forcing them back inside. Once inside, the family's 44-year-old father confronted Green. During a struggle, Green shot him, and the man collapsed a short time later inside the house.

Around 11:20 p.m., police were called to an armed robbery in the parking lot of a shopping center at 71st Street and Memorial Drive. Police say green entered a couple's car while they were sitting in it and robbed them at gunpoint.

Police found Green nearby and arrested him.

The investigation also tied Green to a Sunday morning home invasion. According to police, Green broke into an elderly couple's home in the 6700 block of South 90th East Avenue and forced them to drive to an ATM and withdraw money.

Police say Green forced the couple back to their home, sexually assaulted the woman, and stole cash and a handgun from them.

Green will be charged with murder, armed robbery and sexual assault.
