Tulsans Turn Out to See Claus

Downtown Parade of Lights-Facebook

Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Tulsa for the Holiday Parade of Lights. Local high school bands played Christmas songs as people clapped and cheered. The parade route had to be changed at the last minute because of water line breaks in the downtown area.

This was the 77th year for the downtown parade. It was bitterly cold as members of the Tulsa City Council and their families marched in the parade. Mayor Bartlett and his wife, Victoria, rode on the fire department display.

Many businesses, civic organizations and media companies had entries in the parade. The University of Tulsa was represented by 'Goldie', the university's Golden Retriever.  The parade's main sponsor was the Public Service Company of Oklahoma.

At the rear of the parade was the jolly old man from the North Pole, Santa Claus.
