Tulsa Transit: Carrying More With Less

Tulsa Transit

Tulsa Transit passenger ridership is growing! For the last several years public transit demand in Tulsa has been rising steadily. In October 2013 Tulsa Transit posted its largest single-month ridership number in twelve years. This milestone is especially significant since Tulsa Transit’s service level in 2001 was 20% larger than it is today.

The October 2013 ridership number was 299,035 passenger trips and it puts Tulsa Transit on a pace to exceed three million passenger trips this fiscal year ending June 30, 2014.

Tulsa Transit also received funding for two capital projects in November’s Improve Our Tulsa initiative. $15 million will finance the capital needs of a Bus Rapid Transit line on the Peoria corridor and $14.75 million will fund the purchase of new buses to replace retired vehicles. These combined projects represent the largest single capital investment in Tulsa Transit’s history.
