The Tulsa Symphony Goes "Green"

Tomorrow night, Saturday the 3rd, the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra will present the next concert in its current season at 7:30pm in the Tulsa PAC's Chapman Music Hall. This season's overall theme is "Color" --- and tomorrow night's concert is to be a "Green" evening, with music meant to evoke the natural world in all its wonder, variety, and majesty. Our guest on this edition of ST is the Guest Conductor for tomorrow night, Aaron Collins, who (at age 30) is both focused and passionate in his commitment to make classical music (as performed live in the concert hall) increasingly accessible to today's audiences. On the TSO's upcoming "Green" program will be music by Hovhaness ("Mysterious Mountain"), Rachmaninoff ("Variations on a Theme of Paganini"), Picker ("Old and Lost Rivers"), and Respighi ("The Pines of Rome"). This concert will also feature the Crescendo Award Winner Guest Artist Steven Lin at the piano. (For more on this concert, including ticket details, please visit this link.)

Rich Fisher passed through KWGS about thirty years ago, and just never left. Today, he is the general manager of Public Radio Tulsa, and the host of KWGS’s public affairs program, StudioTulsa, which celebrated its twentieth anniversary in August 2012 . As host of StudioTulsa, Rich has conducted roughly four thousand long-form interviews with local, national, and international figures in the arts, humanities, sciences, and government. Very few interviews have gone smoothly. Despite this, he has been honored for his work by several organizations including the Governor's Arts Award for Media by the State Arts Council, a Harwelden Award from the Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa, and was named one of the “99 Great Things About Oklahoma” in 2000 by Oklahoma Today magazine.
