TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The city of Tulsa is offering free, voluntary online registration for safe rooms located within the city limits.
The registration will help emergency responders in case a severe weather event occurs in Tulsa and residents who took shelter in the rooms need assistance.
Weather officials say even though Tulsa hasn't been hit by a tornado recently, the city is located between two cities that did — Moore and Joplin, Mo.
People can register their safe room online or by calling the city's Customer Care Center at (918) 596-2100.
Residents will need their utility account number to register. They can also request that the fire department get GPS coordinates of individual safe rooms.
