Tulsa Marine Killed

Tulsa, OK – Okla. Marine killed during combat in Afghanistan

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The U.S. Department of Defense says an Oklahoma Marine has been killed during combat operations in Afghanistan.

Officials said Tuesday Cpl. Jon-Luke Bateman died Sunday in Helmand province. The 22-year-old Tulsa resident died along with 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Kenneth Cochran of Wilder, Idaho.

Military officials didn't detail how the Marines were killed.

Bateman was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Pendleton, Calif. Cochran was assigned to the 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa, Japan.

A listing for Bateman couldn't immediately be found Tuesday night.
