Roaming the halls of the nation’s capitol, are some 70 northeast Oklahoma business and civic leaders. The Tulsa Regional Chamber’s Mike Neal says they are lobbying for the Arkansas River.

"First an foremost, it has to do with the Arkansas River and then trying to get some federal funds to force the development of the Arkansas River Corridor Project."

Down river from Tulsa they’re also lobbying for upgrades to the McClellan-Kerr navigation channel.

"Some much needed, really over a million dollars, of maintenance backlog of projects with the whole navigation system."

Mike Neal says they are talking about improvements to the Tulsa and Muskogee ports. The group will be in Washington D.C. through Wednesday.
