Tulsa Bound Plane Slides Off Runway at Chicago O'Hare; Nobody Hurt

File photo

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Aviation Department officials say a passenger plane slid off the runway at O'Hare International Airport after it returned there because of mechanical problems.

Spokesman Gregg Cunningham says nobody was injured aboard the American Eagle plane that left the runway shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday.

Cunningham says the plane had taken off from O'Hare headed for Tulsa, Okla., when the pilot reported mechanical problems and turned around to return to O'Hare.

He says after the plane landed, it came to a stop on a paved area and the passengers were taken by buses to another gate.
