The Tulsa Botanic Garden Will Soon Open Its New Tandy Floral Terraces to the Public

Sep 30, 2015

On this installment of ST, we welcome Todd Lasseigne back to our show. He's a nationally recognized horticulturist who is also the president & CEO of the Tulsa Botanic Garden. This weekend, the Garden will celebrate the grand opening of its new A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Floral Terraces -- the big "public unveiling" happens at noon on Saturday, October 3rd. (The Botanic Garden will offer free admission both days this weekend; additional info can be accessed here.) More than three acres in size, the Tandy Floral Terraces will display 8,000 plants, including trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, roses, and perennials set on a hillside loooking out over downtown Tulsa. Another 7,000 plants currently make up the Garden's "center seasonal display." And as Lasseigne adds on our program, the Garden intends to plant approximately 100,000 bulbs this fall, for blooming in the spring of next year. Also on our show, commentator John Schumann talks about a new trend among medical students, especially those in Northern California, whereby medical school grads are deciding to work on developing health-related apps rather than beginning residency.
