Authorities investigating after 54-year-old man's death

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa police say they have identified a 54-yer-old man who was discovered shot to death northwest of the city's downtown.

The World newspaper reports officers know the identity of the victim but are still waiting to notify the next of kin and continuing to develop leads on the suspect.

Authorities say someone walking down an alley came upon the man's body Saturday afternoon. Homicide Sgt. Dave Walker told the paper the man had been there between 12 and 20 hours with a gunshot wound to the torso. The sergeant also notes there weren't any signs of trauma.

The death is the 44th homicide in Tulsa this year.
