Tulsa-Area Home Foreclosures Fall 35 Percent from 2013

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A new report indicates fewer Tulsans were evicted from their homes in 2014 than in previous years.

Information released by real estate data service RealtyTrac indicates about 3,135 homes entered foreclosure in the Tulsa area last year. The resulting foreclosure rate of one for every 131 households was 35.3 percent lower than in 2013, and lower than every year since at least 2006.

The national foreclosure rate of one for every 118 people was 17.9 percent lower than in 2013. It was also lower than every year other than 2007.

Though fewer people lost their jobs and mortgage-paying power in 2014, the drop can also be attributed to more banks working with mortgage modifications due to new regulations from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
