Tulsa: Accident Prone

By KWGS News

Tulsa, OK – Allstate Insurance Company today released its seventh annual "Allstate America's Best Drivers Report ." The report ranks America's 200 largest cities in terms of car collision frequency to identify which cities have the safest drivers according to Allstate data.

In the 2011 report, Tulsa ranks 107th in the country among large driving cities. That's a drop of 15 spots since last year's report was issued. According to the report, the average driver in Tulsa will experience an auto collision every nine years.

With the 31st largest population in the country, Oklahoma City also fares in the middle this year, ranking 84th overall in the nation for best drivers and dropping 16 spots in the report.

"We don't want drivers in Tulsa to be discouraged by their ranking. Instead, we want the report to challenge drivers in Tulsa to make positive changes to their driving habits that will in turn make the city a safer place to live, work and raise families," said Todd Williams, an Allstate exclusive agency owner.

The Allstate America's Best Driver's Report was created to facilitate an ongoing dialogue on safe driving that saves lives. This year's top honor of "America's Safest Driving City" is Fort Collins, Colorado, the second consecutive year for the city at the top spot. According to the report, the average driver in Fort Collins will experience an auto collision every 14 years, which is 28.6 percent less likely than the national average of 10 years.

"Human behavior is the biggest cause of crashes. It is vital for us to educate American drivers about safe driving behaviors they can practice on the road that will help make our roadways safer," said Williams.
