TU Wins Season Opener

New Orleans, LA – NEW ORLEANS (AP) G.J. Kinne ran for one touchdown and threw for another in his debut as Tulsa quarterback, and the Golden Hurricane defeated Tulane 37-13 in the season opener for both teams on Friday night.

Kinne, who sat out last season after transferring from Texas, passed for 211 yards and rushed for 77.

Damaris Johnson returned a punt 66 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, highlighting a performance in which he had 161 return yards on punts and kickoffs combined. He also had 60 yards receiving and 31 yards rushing.

Tulsa linebacker Mike Bryan had 11 tackles and an interception that set up Charles Clay's 5-yard touchdown run.

Tulane starter Joe Kemp passed for 278 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to Casey Robottom.
