Tulsa, OK – Walking the Halls of the U.S. Senate office building is Court of Appeals Second District Judge Sonia Sotomayor. As President Obama's nominee to the U-S Supreme Court, she is allowing Senators to get a chance to know her prior to her confirmation hearing. Today, we hear from someone who already knows the Judge well. Dr. Robert Spoo is an associate professor of law at the University of Tulsa. In 2001-and 2002, he served as a clerk in Judge Sotomayor's chamber.

If confirmed, Sotomayor will be the first Hispanic on the court and Spoo says that is important. As the court currently stands, Judge Sotomayor would become the sixth Roman Catholic on the court. Dr. Spoo says that is more coincidence than anything else.

A law lecture delivered at Berkley, in which she said it was her hope that a Latina woman with her life experiences could reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life---- is being used by those who oppose the nomination to call her a racists. Spoo says she is not a racist.

If you would like to hear more of our interview, including a discussion on some of her court rulings, join us today for Studio Tulsa at 11:30a.m. and again this evening a 7:30.
