Truck Carrying Explosives Overturns on I-40

AA roads

CLINTON, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a truck carrying explosives overturned on Interstate 40 in western Oklahoma and caught fire — but that the fire is out and there is no danger of an explosion.

However Custer County Emergency Management Director Mike Galloway says one person was trapped in the cab of the overturned tractor-trailer rig Monday afternoon with unknown injuries and that the driver of the rig was with authorities on the scene.

The OHP has shut down westbound lanes of I-40 near Clinton.

Galloway says the truck is carrying an explosive used in the oilfield industry.
