Trial Set for Man Charged with Killing Father, Brother

Comanche County

The trial of a Lawton man charged in the shooting deaths of his father and brother is to begin.

The trial of 20-year-old Thorsten Rushing on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of conspiracy is to begin Tuesday in Comanche County District Court.

Rushing has pleaded not guilty. The Lawton Constitution reports that the state is seeking the death penalty.

Prosecutors say Rushing killed Uwe Rushing and 14-year-old Stefan Rushing in January 2014.

Two co-defendants have pleaded guilty to murder charges in the case and are serving life in prison. Two other co-defendants are in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy and being accessories after the crime.

Witnesses testified at a preliminary hearing that Rushing may have been motivated by money from his father's life insurance policy.
