Town Hall on Sidewalk Fuss

File photo

Tulsans will gather tonight to discussed a proposed sidewalk. The walkway would connect 21st Street with the Gathering Place on the east side of Riverside Drive.

Mayor Bartlett and some of the neighborhood residents are opposed to the sidewalk. The Mayor is concerned about a vehicle going out of control during a River Parks event and slamming into a sidewalk full of people.

Proponents of the sidewalk say the Mayor is being influenced by friends and business associates who live in the area. That is an allegation the Mayor denies. Four former Tulsa Mayor have come out in support of the walkway. They are Bob LaFortune, Terry Young, Susan Savage and Kathy Taylor.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Tulsa Garden Center.
