Tornado Damage in East BA

KWGS News

Authorities say a tornado that touched down in the Tulsa area doesn't appear to have destroyed any buildings.

Because it was dark out when the tornado hit Broken Arrow, it's difficult to determine the extent of the damage. But Police Maj. Mark Irwin told the Tulsa World that the city had no reports that any buildings were destroyed.

The tornado touched down just before 9PM, last night near 91st and 193rd East Avenue. The storm skipped across the Creek Turnpike and did damage to an abandon service station at industrial area near Highway 51 and the pike.

A National Weather Service meteorologist also said it didn't appear to be a strong twister like the deadly one in suburban Oklahoma City last week.

Earlier in the day, tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma and Arkansas, injuring at least nine people.
