Texas Police Nab Sand Springs Murder Suspect, Son OK

Oklahoma-DPS

LEWISVILLE, Texas (AP) — An Oklahoma man suspected of killing his mother and abducting his 6-year-old son has been captured in North Texas with the unharmed child.

Lewisville police on Wednesday morning nabbed 38-year-old Robert Connor III at a hotel. His son, Declan (DEK'-lin), was taken into protective custody.

Capt. Jay Powell says police believe Connor has ties to the Lewisville area, about 20 miles northwest of Dallas, but didn't provide additional information. Powell says the suspect was captured after police put a microphone near the hotel room door to get Connor to surrender.

An Amber Alert issued in Osage County, Okla., says Connor is wanted for homicide in Tuesday night's fatal shooting of the child's grandmother. Connor's great aunt, Marilyn Lorenz, says the victim was the child's paternal grandmother.
