Technology Helps Rescue Traffic Crash Victim

Facebook

A woman is alive and has her pick-up to thank for helping save her.

Verdigris Fire Chief Mike Schaffer says a woman swerved to miss a deer this morning and went way off the roadway near Port of Catoosa. Her pick-up went down a steep ravine, through thick underbrush and came to rest in a creek bed.

Officials were notified of the crash by the 'On-Star' notification system in her vehicle.  However,  at first, they were unable to find the wreckage in the underbrush.

After a series of ‘pings’ from the system, Chief Schaffer says they were able to find the woman in a wooded area,  some 100 feet off the road.

She was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
