Tulsa, OK – Former Tulsa mayor interested in U. of Tulsa job

(Information in the following story is from: Tulsa World, http://www.tulsaworld.com)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor says she's interested in becoming the next president at the University of Tulsa.

Taylor tells the Tulsa World a handful of people from the private university and the community have discussed the job with her and that it's something she'd "definitely consider."

The 55-year-old Taylor says she hasn't submitted a formal application for the job.

She was Tulsa's mayor from 2006 to 2009 before becoming the chief of education strategy and innovation for then-Gov. Brad Henry. Before becoming mayor, she was the state's commerce secretary from 2003 to 2006 under Henry.

Current TU President Steadman Upham said in April he plans to step down in June 2012 but will stay at the university as a teacher and researcher.
