Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Mountain View-Gotebo School District and Kiowa County in a dispute in which they sought $733,000 that they were denied by the state because of a paperwork mistake.
Friday ends the long dispute that began with failed negotiations and then led to a lawsuit.
At issue was money that Kiowa County was to have received from the state as reimbursement for taxes not paid by a wind energy company that was getting a state tax break.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission argued that its hands were tied because reimbursement paperwork wasn't filed on time.
Most of the judgment will go to the school district.
