Tank Fire Explosion

By AP

Kingfisher, OK – No one hurt in blast, fire at Okla. oil tank

KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) Kingfisher County officials are investigating whether someone deliberately caused an explosion and fire at an oil storage tank.

Dispatcher Lonnie McDade says the sheriff's office received a call about a fire near Kingfisher around 10 a.m. Sunday. McDade says fire crews contained the blaze, and no evacuations were ordered and or injuries were reported.

Fire officials say a bullet fired at the tank caused pressure to build up and explode.

Fire Chief Randy Poindexter told The Oklahoman the fire damaged two of three Continental Operating Company oil tanks.

A call to the company wasn't immediately returned Sunday afternoon.
