A Talk with A.O. Scott, Chief Film Critic for The New York Times

Our guest on this edition of StudioTulsa is A.O. Scott, who's been a film critic at The New York Times since 2000. Scott will appear at a "Talking Heads" lecture/Q&A this evening (Thursday the 4th) at Congregation B'nai Emunah in Tulsa, near 17th and Peoria. The event begins at 7pm, and there's an optional dinner beforehand, beginning at 5:45pm. (Details on both events are here.) Scott --- who, as a critic, actually comes more from a literary background than a cinematic one --- talks with us, among other topics, about the rise (yet again) of the 3-D phenomenon in American movies, the very recent (and very dramatic) technological changes in both the making and watching of films, the particularly strong crop of "Best Picture" Oscar nominees that were in the running a few months back, and why the role or function of the movie critic is now, at this moment, perhaps more important than ever.
