Tulsa, OK – kla prosecutors charge Tulsa WR with embezzlement
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa County prosecutors have charged a University of Tulsa football player with one count of felony embezzlement.
According to online court records, an arrest warrant also was issued Wednesday for Damaris Johnson.
The NCAA all-purpose yardage record-holder was questioned last week after his girlfriend, Chamon Jones, was arrested on an embezzlement complaint.
Police alleged that Jones, who works at a local Macy's, sold more than $1,500 worth of merchandise to Johnson for just under $13 on one occasion. Officers also alleged that Jones charged Johnson 34 cents for merchandise totaling $1,283.
Head football coach Bill Blankenship last week suspended Johnson indefinitely after police questioned him about his role in the transactions.
