Tulsa, Ok – Fed'l panel indicts Okla. man for killing Indian

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Prosecutors say a federal grand jury at Tulsa has indicted a man from Hominy on a charge of murdering an Indian in Indian Country.

A news release from the US attorney's office Wednesday said 48-year-old Steven Thompson Keeling was indicted on a charge of murdering Edward Brown at Brown's home in Leonard.

The slaying occurred on Jan. 17 at Brown's house on a restricted Indian allotment, or in terms of the law, in Indian Country.

A guilty verdict could result in a sentence up to life in prison.
