Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) FOI Oklahoma has honored the Tulsa World and Kristy Yager of the City of Oklahoma City for their commitment to freedom of information and openness in government.

The organization presented the Ben Blackstock Award to the Tulsa World Saturday for the newspaper's nearly decade-long effort to gain access to computerized records from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. Yager was given the Sunshine Award for working to provide useful information to the public.

FOI Oklahoma also will present its Black Hole Award to Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater and the Oklahoma City city attorney's office for what it calls "thwarting the free flow of information."

The third-annual awards are part of the "Oklahoma Sunshine '10 Conference: Privacy, Politicians & the Public s Need to Know" in Oklahoma City.
