Summertime Travel Tips: Some Great Getaway Suggestions for the Sooner State

By Rich Fisher

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, we're talking about nearby summertime travel destinations --- places that are exciting and enticing (and perhaps lesser-known) right here in Oklahoma, places that you can steal away to for a few days (or longer, hopefully) on just a tank of gas or so. Our guest in Steffie Corcoran, the newly named Editor in Chief of Oklahoma Today magazine. This magazine's latest issue has (as its cover story) a "Summer Escapes" feature, which spotlights fifteen of our state's best swimming facilities --- from Turner Falls in Davis to Pennington Creek Dam in Tishomingo to the Wentz Camp and Pool in Ponca City. Corcoran tells us about these and other great long-weekend-type destinations --- each of them an ideal spot in which to cool off in the brutal summer heat. Moreover, Corcoran and our host Rich Fisher also discuss a few notable restaurants across the Sooner State (given that, as Fisher points out, some of us like to travel on our stomach!).
