Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. school students get sick after taking pills
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) At least eight Oklahoma City middle school-age girls were taken to the hospital after they exhibited symptoms of possible prescription drug use.
Oklahoma City Public Schools spokeswoman Kathleen Kennedy said Friday two students at John Marshall High School were sent to the nurse's office when they showed signs of grogginess and slurred speech. After teachers were notified to look out for those symptoms, six other students were identified.
Students from sixth grade to 12th grade attend John Marshall.
The spokeswoman says six students were taken to area hospitals by ambulance and two were driven to hospitals by their parents. Kennedy says she didn't know what type of medication was involved.
Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman Lara O'Leary says the students who went to hospitals in ambulances were in good condition.
