Tulsa, OK – Strong storms roll across Okla, thousands in dark

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Strong storms with high winds moved into Oklahoma and thousands of power outages are reported in the state.

No serious injuries were reported Friday morning. A tractor-trailer rig was blown over on Interstate 35 near Norman where power lines were also blown down. Northbound lanes of the interstate were affected.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric reports on its Web site nearly 6,600 power outages with nearly 3,700 customers without power in Norman and almost 1,200 outages in central and northern Oklahoma City.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma reported just more than 1,000 outages in Grady County just southwest of Oklahoma City and about 200 north of Tulsa.

The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail in central Oklahoma.
