Storm Update

By Associated Press

Tulsa, OK – Emergency declared, winter storm crawls into Okla.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Schools across Oklahoma and state government offices are closed as a powerful storm with snow and freezing rain moved into the state.

Several flights were also canceled Thursday at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and at Tulsa International Airport.

Ice snapped electrical lines in southwestern Oklahoma and left about 100 electrical customers near Hobart without power.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management plans to open an Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the state's response to the storm. Industrial-size generators and bottled water have been moved to staging sites in Oklahoma City and McAlester to be distributed where needed.

Several accidents have been reported across the state but none with serious injuries.
