State Budget Cuts Could Close Some Tulsa Schools

KWGS News

A plan to fill a $12 million Tulsa School budget shortfall could include closing some public schools, cutting the school year and scaling back athletics. The crisis was brought on by the latest revenue failure from state government. That means state appropriations to school districts will be cut.

Tulsa School Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist says there just isn’t any budget wiggle-room with funding being slashed from the state year-after-year.

Dr. Gist says a cost saving proposal will be presented to the school board by May. She hopes for action before the end of this school year.
