Standoff with Man on Water Tower in Norman Ends

KWGS News

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Police in Norman say a man who climbed the city's water tower and refused to come down for more than 5 hours, finally did come down and was hospitalized.

Lieutenant Brent Barbour says the man climbed down about 10 p.m. Friday and was not injured, but was being treated for heat exposure. The man's name was not released.

Police were called about 4:45 p.m. Friday when witnesses saw the man climbing the tower. Both Robinson Street and Flood Avenue in north Norman were closed while police and other agencies responded and talked with the man.
