Oklahoma City, Ok – Rain continuing in Oklahoma; flood warnings issued

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Forecasters are issuing flood warnings as sometimes-heavy rain continues to fall in parts of Oklahoma.

According to the Oklahoma Mesonet, about 6.4 inches of rain fell in Hobart in Kiowa County between midnight and 8 a.m. Monday. About 3.6 inches fell during the same period in nearby Fort Cobb in Caddo County.

Parts of seven counties in southwestern Oklahoma are under flash flood warnings.

A flood warning is in place in Woodward and Woods counties. The National Weather Service says the Cimarron River near Waynoka was at 9.1 feet early Monday, more than a foot above flood stage.

A flood warning also is in effect for Pottawatomie and Seminole counties. The Little River near Tecumseh was at 12.2 feet early Monday, more than a foot above flood stage.

The weather service says both rivers are expected to fall below flood stage by late Monday morning.
